Among the established daughter proven bulls, Han Solo, Hiller and Moser P*S remain among the leading proven bulls in the ranking and all three improved their breeding values in the latest index run.
CRV strengthens Fleckvieh portfolio with proven performance and new homozygous polled genetics

CRV’s Fleckvieh portfolio continues to show strong performance in the latest index run. Established proven bulls such as Han Solo, Hiller and Moser PS have further improved their breeding values, while four new proven bulls and five new Insire (genomic) bulls add further diversity to the portfolio. The new homozygous polled bulls are a particular highlight, giving breeders even more choice in polled Fleckvieh genetics.
Proven bulls continue to deliver
Han Solo (Hashtag x Rolls)
Han Solo further strengthened his position, increasing his milk breeding value to +545 kg. He combines highly positive component values with outstanding exterior and beef index results. His performance is now confirmed by 2,160 daughters in milk, underlining his reliability as a proven bull.

Hiller (Hashtag x Villeroy)
Hiller made another significant step for milk production, increasing his milk breeding value to +1,466 kg. In addition to his high beef index, Hiller stands out for daughter fertility, with a +10% CRV Efficiency result.

Moser P*S (Meter Pp* x Weitblick)
Moser PS also increased his milk breeding value, reaching +864 kg, now supported by 425 daughters in milk. He combines strong feet & legs and udder traits with a good beef index, making him a balanced option for Fleckvieh breeders.

New proven bulls add further diversity
The latest run also brings several new proven bulls into the ranking. Harvis Pp*, another polled proven bull, is joined by Salbei, Horatio and Hyndai. All four newcomers offer solid overall breeding profiles and contribute additional choice and diversity to the CRV Fleckvieh breeding programme.
Harvis Pp* (Herango Pp* x Wombat)
Harvis Pp* stands out with an outstanding milk breeding value of almost +1,400 kg. His fitness values, including udder Health and daughter fertility, are more than one standard deviation above average, while his milk behaviour of 116 promises easy-to-manage cows.

Salbei (Sido x Wombat)
With +1,162 kg milk and a beef index of 114, Salbei combines strong dairy performance with valuable beef characteristics. He also offers outstanding udder health, production increase per lactation and good milking speed, while his daughters are expected to have thicker and longer teats.

Horatio (Hashtag x Rolls)
Horatio combines a milk index of 120 with more than +800 kg milk and almost neutral components, highlighting his strong dairy potential. His excellent udder health of 118, combined with solid feet & legs and outstanding udder traits, makes him a particularly complete bull. His profile is further suited to use on maiden heifers.

Hyndai (Hashtag x Rolls)
Another Hashtag son, Hyndai offers +903 kg milk, positive fat at +0.11% and slightly negative protein. His high persistency of 113 contributes to flatter lactation curves, supporting consistent production throughout the lactation.

Five new Insire bulls enter the portfolio
The new index run also introduces five new Insire bulls:
Hochlob P*S (Hockey P*S x Wirbelwind P*S) stands out with +1,323 kg milk and an outstanding fitness of 127, complemented by excellent exterior and udder traits and slightly taller daughters.

Memento (Mangan P*S x Virginia) combines +1,142 kg milk, a high beef index of 111 and fitness of 112, complemented by outstanding exterior, making him a versatile all-rounder.

Somic PP* (Samt P*S x My Best Pp*) combines excellent longevity of 121 with high daughter fertility of 119 and a balanced exterior, adding valuable homozygous polled genetics to the line-up.

Waldman Pp* (Wachau P*S x Superboy) earns his “Mr. Health” profile with outstanding fitness of 131, supported by udder health of 122, longevity of 128, milking speed of 117, as well as strong calving ease and daughter fertility.

Well PP* (Wachau PS x Victim PP*) has an exceptional fitness of 134, driven by outstanding daughter fertility of 134, complemented by milking speed of 114, udder health of 115 and longevity of 125.

The addition of several homozygous polled (PP) bulls further strengthens the range of polled genetics available within the CRV Fleckvieh breeding programme. Until now, the polled offering has largely consisted of heterozygous Pp and PS bulls. The new PP bulls give breeders additional opportunities to increase the use of polled genetics in their herds.
“This index run once again shows the depth of our Fleckvieh programme. We see strong confirmation from our established proven bulls, while the new proven and genomic bulls add further choice, including several homozygous polled options. This combination gives Fleckvieh breeders a broad and increasingly versatile range of genetics to work with,” explains Tobias Lerner, CRV Global Fleckvieh Product Manager.
Breeding values in context
For Fleckvieh, a rolling deduction of breeding values is applied with each index run to account for ongoing genetic progress in the population. For example, the current deduction for TMI/GZW is -0.8 points. As a result, changes in individual breeding values should always be considered in the context of the current index run and the overall ranking.
Looking ahead
The outlook for the coming index runs remains positive. Several promising bulls, both polled and non-polled, are expected to enter production soon, while a new generation of top candidates is already in the pipeline.
This provides a strong foundation for the continued development of CRV’s Fleckvieh breeding programme, with an expanding choice of proven, polled and homozygous polled genetics for breeders.
