Jeans Hummer PP delivers trouble-free and persistent production

The dam of InSire bull Jeans Hummer PP is one of many outstanding Jantina cows in the 260-cow herd that Jeroen Sturkenboom milks together with his brother André. The bull’s granddam, Jeans Jantina 297 (by Rapper), is also a remarkable cow. “She was classified with 87 points and made a great impression at last year’s winter show in Houten,” says Sturkenboom. As a heifer, she produced around the herd’s average, but in her second lactation, she achieved a lactation value of 116.

“Jantina cows are easy milk producers with an extra touch in conformation. And they pass these qualities on,” Sturkenboom explains. The Jantina line proves this both through female descendants and through bulls like Hummer PP and his distant relative Jeans Rennes.

The persistence shown by Hummer PP’s dam is reflected in his breeding values. He scores 113 for persistence, making him an excellent production sire with nearly 1,500 kg of milk and +0.13% protein. Thanks to their good persistence, his daughters will require relatively little feed for their production (feed efficiency breeding value: 107).

Hummer PP daughters will develop into robust, open-framed dairy cows with impeccable udders and strong legs featuring a slightly curved side view. Like the Jantina family, they will easily produce high amounts of fat and protein. Additionally, Hummer PP scores 102 for fertility, 105 for ketosis, and 107 for hoof health. His BB genotype for kappa-casein and A2A2 for beta-casein complete the profile of this homozygous polled InSire bull.
