The latest index run has delivered exciting new figures for our Fleckvieh bulls, reinforcing the breed’s strong performance in milk production, fertility, and suitability for modern dairy operations. From bulls excelling in milk production and health to those demonstrating optimal suitability for robotic milking systems, CRV’s Fleckvieh genetics are designed to meet the evolving demands of the dairy industry. This update includes two newly proven bulls, standout performers among our established sires, and a promising lineup of young Insire bulls. Two outstanding bulls have received their official proofs, further strengthening our portfolio:

Malte PS is a heterozygous polled, dual-purpose bull that balances milk production with enhanced beef traits and muscularity. He is a valuable addition to our polled lineup, offering excellent daughter fertility and production gains from first to third lactation, along with strong longevity.

Mister X is now proven with 121 daughters, Mister X delivers solid milk production with an impressive fat percentage of +0.26%. He stands out for his exceptional feet & legs and udder quality, with ideal teat length and thickness, making him highly suitable for robotic milking systems.

New Insire bulls join the lineup

We are pleased to introduce five new Insire bulls, further expanding our genetic offering. Notably, 50% of our Insire bulls are polled, including four homozygous polled (PP) sires, ensuring 100% polled calves. The latest additions highlight a clear trend towards bulls optimized for robotic milking. Our new Insire sires include:

Hockey P*S

The Heilfroh P*S son Hockey P*S impresses with an exceptional milk production of over +1005 kg, combined with a strong beef index and increased muscularity. He also stands out for his excellent health traits, including longevity, persistency, and udder health. We expect his daughters to be slightly taller, with more frame, good feet and legs, and well-attached udders. Notably, he passes on longer teats with ideal teat thickness—an asset for both milking systems and udder conformation.

Ikaros PP

Ikaros PP comes from a top cow family, with both his dam and granddam still actively producing on the farm—proving their longevity and functionality. He is 100% polled and transmits this trait to all his calves, making him an excellent choice for breeding polled offspring. He ranks high for milk production with slightly positive protein levels. His CRV Efficiency score of +9% is driven by his strong performance in milk, longevity, and beef index. Suitable for use on heifers, he combines excellent udder traits with high udder health and strong, correct feet and legs.

The high-performing bull Matrix PS delivers an impressive +1,179 kg of milk and stands out as a true health specialist, with exceptional longevity and a CRV Efficiency score of +12. He is suitable for use on heifers and transmits excellent daughter fertility and udder health. His daughters are expected to have outstanding udders—two standard deviations above average—with ideal teat length, making him a well-rounded choice for both productivity and functional traits.

Wapi PS combines high milk production with slightly positive protein levels and a solid beef index, reflecting good muscularity. He passes on great udders with strong udder health, making him a balanced choice for both production and functionality. He comes from a proven, top-performing cow family—his dam has already delivered three calves and is still milking, while his granddam has four calves and continues to perform well in the herd.

Wasserstoff is currently the number one bull in the Fleckvieh ranking for Milk Index with an impressive score of 140, this sire delivers +1,421 kg of milk with nearly neutral components. His CRV Efficiency of +12% reflects his strong performance in production, longevity, and functional traits. He also excels in exterior, passing on excellent feet and legs and high-quality udders, along with top scores for milking speed and persistency. Health traits are another highlight, with outstanding udder and hoof health. He comes from a top cow family, with his dam (one calf) and granddam (three calves) both actively milking in the barn.

Industry Agreement on Bull Fertility Evaluation

A new consensus has been reached within the Fleckvieh breeding community regarding bull fertility evaluations. According to official governmental breeding evaluation protocols, a Fleckvieh bull must have a minimum of 500 inseminations before receiving an official fertility value.
