Zuri has passed away, and his semen stock is limited. However, his successor is ready in the form of Ar-Joy Cu Zuri Madden. With 3309 TPI and 1.97 PTAT, he is the most complete bull from CRV’s American breeding program. “In many ways, Madden is an improved version of his sire,” says Jon Schefers, who leads CRV’s international breeding programs. “Madden transmits the same impressive spring of rib and slope, along with rump width, as his sire,” Schefers explains. “His daughters will showcase high milk output thanks to their broad and high rear udders. The udders are well attached and robot-compatible with average teat length,” he adds. Madden also improves leg structure, with the desired curvature in the rear legs from the side view.
Ar-Joy Cu Zuri Madden the flagship of the American breeding program
For many breeders in the United States, he was the surprise of the most recent index release. Terra-Calroy Zuri, from CRV’s American program, received his first daughter-based breeding values in April 2025. With over 300 daughters contributing, Zuri rose to 3348 TPI and ranked 4th among daughter-proven bulls. With 1.37 PTAT, he is by far the best type improver among the top 5 TPI bulls.

With US breeding values of 1694 pounds of milk, +0.07% fat, and +0.04% protein, Madden is just as balanced as Zuri but offers higher production. His daughters will require relatively little feed for their high output. Madden is A2A2, improves milking speed, and is suitable for use on heifers.
Duane and Marilyn Hershey of Ar-Joy Farms in Pennsylvania bred this showcase of CRV’s American breeding program. Among their 850-head herd, Ar-Joy Cu Pari Madison, classified
with 88 points and an excellent udder, stands out. She has been used extensively as a sire dam and traces back to the legendary Markwell Blackstar Raven, classified with 95 points.
